About
I am currently a Senior at Churchill High School in San Antonio TX. Born in San Francisco, CA and raised in the Bay Area, I developed a passion for capturing landscapes, people and urban life through a camera lens. As a young child, I always carried a basic digital 'point-and-shoot' camera capturing my unique view of the world. I began by taking simple photography walks while traveling with my family in Santa Barbara, San Diego, Lake Tahoe, the Sierra Mountains, and Hawaii. I learned to use more complex cameras while traveling with relatives in Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, and Peru.
After years of self-learning, I have developed a critical eye and an ability to express myself through photography. Initially surrounded by the photogenic backdrop of the San Francisco Bay Area, I continue to develop my photographic voice here in Texas. I am inspired by modern clean-cut architecture, natural beauty and simplicity.
After moving to San Antonio as a Sophomore, I found my way into the Journalism program at Churchill HS and have played a key role as a Lead Photographer of the school’s newspaper and yearbook. At Churchill, my photos have won a variety of awards including a “Tops in Texas” gold medal for best high school sports photo, and two Silver medals for best photojournalism and feature photos. I have also won seven awards in our annual school district photography contest.
I have continued to pursue photojournalism by applying to and attending The School of the New York Times’ “Journalism as Art” Summer Program in New York City and Newsroom by the Bay’s “Digital Journalism” Summer Program on the campus of Stanford University. My goal is to continue to master my photographic skills while pursuing a degree in Journalism when I graduate from high school in 2019.
I currently provide portrait and event photography services in my spare time.
